Being “infatuated” with someone means that you are highly smitten by them, whether it is because of their looks, personality, style, etc. However, its root word is “fatuous”, which means foolish, so infatuation connotes that a person’s feelings are not profound or heartfelt. Meaning that one could have a blind or superficial crush.
